ANNUAL COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE SET FOR JUNE 9

Congregation Torat El, Oakhurst, & Temple Beth Miriam, Elberon,

Appeal to Families, Young Adults & Teens to Donate

Congregation Torat El -Jersey Shore Jewish Center, in partnership with Reform congregation Temple Beth Miriam of Elberon, will sponsor their annual family blood drive on Monday, June 9, 4-9 p.m. to benefit Central Jersey Blood Center.

Now that post-Sandy repairs to many homes are being completed, our Shore population is once again growing, according to campaign chair Mike Gordon of CTE.  Central Jersey Blood Center is a leading source of blood for area medical centers.  While demand is always high, donations in anticipation of the summer months are critical.

Mike notes, “Our two congregations at the Monmouth shore consider it our community responsibility to pay it forward, ensuring the security of an ample blood supply for all.”

To that end, families, young adults, students and older teens are encouraged to make a commitment to donate.  Younger donors are very desirable because the experience plants the seeds for ongoing future participation.  Giving blood only takes about 20 minutes.

Parental consent forms for youth 16 years of age are available from the Torat El office, or may be signed by parent at the time of blood donation.  A signature i.d. is required from all who donate.  The drive takes place at Torat El, commencing at 4 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m.

All who intend to donate must make an advance reservation by June 5 so that Central Jersey Blood Center can staff up appropriately.

Please note that blood may be donated every 56 days, up to six times per year.  Donors are urged to eat and to drink plenty of fluids prior to their appointments.

To make a reservation or obtain additional information, please call Mike Gordon at 732-922-3014.  Leave a message if necessary and your call will be returned.
