CONGREGATION TORAT EL~JERSEY SHORE JEWISH CENTER ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE JUNE 10

Campaign Targets Families, Young Adults & Teens

Ocean, NJ (May 9, 2013) — Eastern Monmouth County’s largest Conservative Jewish synagogue, Congregation Torat El ~Jersey Shore Jewish Center, in conjunction with Temple Beth Miriam of Elberon, will sponsor its annual family blood drive to benefit Central Jersey Blood Center on Monday, June 10, 4-9 p.m.

According to campaign chair Mike Gordon, Central Jersey Blood Center is a leading source of blood for area medical centers, and the need is always critical.  “With summer about to start, our Shore population will multiply, and the need for blood will also,” says Gordon. 

   Gordon notes, “Our two congregations’ location at the Monmouth shore makes it our community responsibility to pay it forward and ensure the security of an ample blood supply for all.”

To that end, families, young adults, students and older teens are encouraged to make a commitment to donate.  “Younger donors are very desirable because the experience plants the seeds for ongoing future participation,” according to Gordon.  “It only takes about 20 minutes!”

Parental consent forms for youth 16 years of age are available from the Torat El business office, 301 Monmouth Rd., Oakhurst, or may be signed by parent at the time of blood donation.  A signature i.d. is required from all who donate.

The drive will take place at Torat El commencing at 4 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m.  All who intend to donate must make an advance reservation by June 5 so that Central Jersey Blood Center can staff up appropriately. 

Please note that blood may be donated every 56 days, up to six times per year.  Donors are urged to eat and to drink plenty of fluids prior to their appointments.
